Students applying for grades 1-12 will be requested to participate in a series of placement tasks, such as a writing sample and a math assessment. Students with limited English will participate in both an oral interview and a written assessment, where possible, as part of the admission process.

Limited English proficient students applying to grades 1-5 will be tested in Spanish, as they are required to demonstrate native language development at an appropriate level. Students applying for admission to grades 6-8 must show evidence of sufficient ability to work in English so as to permit them to do grade-level work with some help from ESL and classroom teachers. They must also demonstrate ability to successfully complete all graduation requirements. Students applying for high school (grades 9-12) whose English abilities will not permit them to do work on grade level, as determined by ISM, will not be admitted.

A completed application form must be submitted to the admissions office along with official academic, testing and medical records. Should the student have received clinical testing, been involved in remedial work or required resource room services, appropriate records need to be submitted.

As part of admissions procedures, parents will submit the results of a full physical examination performed by a licensed physician, including vaccination and health history, allergies, current health conditions and/or medications taken, and a description of any health conditions which might inhibit full participation in school and/or extracurricular activities, including physical education and school trips.
